This is a critical year of transition in Peru as the primary responsibility for completing Bible translation in 22 languages shifts to Peruvian ministries. One of these ministries is ATEK (www.atekperu.org.) Centered in Cusco, ATEK's vision is to complete Bible translation in a broad area from the eastern Andes throughout the Peruvian Amazon basin bordering Brazil. Much of this region is, by law, only accessible to Peruvians. A complete survey of the language needs is a high priority for ATEK in the coming years.

But Cusco is a place to which you can travel, and in fact--are invited! We will be pouring concrete, laying adobe block, doing rough and finish carpentry, painting, and supporting ATEK office administration from May through November 2008. This project is to build a Bible translation training center and administrative office for ATEK. We can use volunteers anytime from two weeks to six months.
