Dear CzechMate Prayer Partners,
Martin has been a believer and follower of Jesus for
over a year now. He was baptized in our church plant last
month. As I talked with him this past Sunday at the worship
service, he was relating to me how, after finishing up
his first year of university, he had taken about 10 days
to live by himself in a friend’s apartment so that
he could read through the Old Testament. “Did you
make it,” I asked. “No,” Martin answered.
“There were so many good stories and interesting
details, that I only made it to Judges.” Martin’s
eyes twinkled and my heart was warmed as we stood and
talked together about God’s faithfulness to Joseph,
as well as God’s inexplicable grace to continually
forgive His people when they went their own way through
the Book of Judges. Martin is helping out with a 5-day
Kids’ Club this week in the neighborhood where our
church plant is growing.... When many things around me
aren’t going very well, and ministry seems to be
going more slowly than I think it ought to, thinking about,
praying for, and giving thanks to God for Martin is my
way of moving out of the “spiritual pity party”
in which I’m swimming. I am so grateful to be able
to serve here in the Czech Republic and invest into young
believers like Martin...
On the home front... Far away in Nigeria we hear from
our Emily a few times a week via email. Her month-long
ministry among orphans seems to bearing much good fruit
in her life, as well as in the lives of the kids with
whom she is meeting. She’s picking up quite a bit
of the local language, and has even struck up a friendship
with a young women from Slovakia who is serving there
as a missionary. They love practicing their Czech and
Slovak languages with one another! Thank you for praying
for Emily... Rebekah has been gone this week to a horse-riding
camp in southern Czech. She’ll come back this Saturday
a sun-tanned Czech Cowgirl...
Two weeks before our English Outreach Camp for our church
plant, and we already have too many students! We’ll
need to come up with some clever ideas of where we can
house the students who would so much like to come... The
team from Harvest EFC in Story City, Iowa, is diligently
preparing their English lessons and other activities in
preparation for sharing the Gospel with the Czech students
through their lives and personal testimonies.
Prayer Requests:
• For the students signed up for our English Camp,
that God would already be working in their hearts to make
them thirsty to hear and experience the Grace and Forgiveness
that Jesus offers them.
• For our Emily as she serves among orphan children
in Nigeria, from July 13-August 13. Pray that the Holy
Spirit will work in her and through her to bring about
Spiritual fruit.
